Buy Reddit Poll Votes: How Reddit Polls Work and Why Upvotes Are Not Votes
You can't buy Reddit poll votes from Voting Now, because every pick in a Reddit poll is made by a Redditor on their own account. We sell promotion for the poll instead: paid ads, native PR, partner groups, bloggers and our own social channels, aimed at real people. No bots, no fake accounts. Nobody can promise the poll goes your way, and the subreddit's own rules come first.

Can you buy Reddit poll votes, or only reach the right Redditors?
A Reddit poll records one thing: which option logged-in Redditors pick before the window closes. Voting Now can put the thread in front of more of those people through ads, native PR, partner groups, bloggers and its own social channels, but the pick stays with the person who taps it, so the poll's result is never something we hand over.
I wouldn't touch a seller offering Reddit poll picks by the batch. Those picks have to come from accounts somebody controls, and a poll whose leading option rests on accounts no real person uses is a result you can't show anyone with a straight face. The number looks fine right up until someone asks who those people were.
What a client pays for on a Reddit poll is reach into a relevant audience: people who follow the topic, read the subreddit, or trust the blogger who mentions the thread. Some of them click through, read the question and pick an option. Some don't. That second group is the honest part of the arithmetic, and no promotion removes it.
How a Reddit poll counts: up to six answers, up to a week
Reddit polls arrived in 2020 as their own post type. Digital Information World's report on the launch described the frame: one question, up to six answer options, and a voting window of up to a week that the author sets while posting. Text-only subreddits were left out of the feature at launch.
Those limits shape promotion more than people expect. A week is short, and the author may well choose less. Whatever length goes in at posting is the whole schedule, so every ad, partner post and blogger mention has to land between the moment the poll goes live and the moment it locks.
Six options is a ceiling, not a target. A poll with two clear choices is easier for a stranger to answer in a second, and someone arriving from an ad should be able to pick without reading the whole thread first. Reddit may have changed these settings since 2020, so the poll composer inside the subreddit is where to confirm them before posting.
Before any promotion runs, four details about the Reddit poll go down on paper:
- the subreddit, and whether it accepts poll posts at all
- the length the author picked, read from the post itself
- the options exactly as written, since they cannot be promoted differently
- who posted it: you, a moderator, or someone you have never met
Reddit poll vs upvote: one ranks the post, one answers it
An upvote on Reddit and a pick in a Reddit poll are two separate counts on the same post. The upvote feeds the content voting system that decides how high the thread sits in a feed; the poll pick goes to one of the listed options and decides which answer leads when the window closes.
People mix them up constantly, and plenty of offers lean on the mix-up. A package of upvotes can lift a thread without moving the poll's split at all, and a poll can end with a clear leader on a post almost nobody upvoted. If the answer to the question is what matters to you, the arrow is the wrong number to watch.
The two do connect in one direction. A thread that climbs gets seen by more subscribers, and more of them may answer the question. That is the only honest link between the counts, and it runs through real readers. Upvotes from accounts nobody runs don't add readers. They add a number.
Vote manipulation on Reddit, as New America and the FTC describe it
New America's report on Reddit places the content voting system among the most common routes for manipulating what appears on the platform. For anyone weighing bought Reddit poll votes, that matters: the arrow and the poll sit on the same post, and the arrow is exactly the mechanism the report singles out.
The FTC's Trade Regulation Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials covers the commercial side. Section 465.8(a) prohibits selling or distributing fake indicators of social media influence where the seller knew or should have known they were fake. Section 465.8(b) applies the same test to the buyer side, which matters to anyone shopping for poll numbers: purchasing or procuring those fake indicators is prohibited too.
The rule's definition lists followers, views, likes, saves, shares, reposts and comments among the indicators it covers, and it calls fake the ones generated by bots or by accounts not associated with a real individual. Upvotes and poll picks are not named in that list, which opens with 'such as'. How the FTC would read them is a question for the FTC.
Reddit's content policy and each subreddit's sidebar rules are the other two texts to read, and I'd read both before spending anything on a poll. A moderator can remove a thread, and a removed thread takes its poll with it.
Reddit poll promotion is quoted the way advertisers pay for leads
Promotion for a Reddit poll is priced the way advertisers price leads: a quote agreed before anything runs, built from the audience, the channels and the length of the window. Voting Now starts every quote with a free analysis of the poll, its subreddit and the rules that apply to both.
The quote moves with four inputs, listed below. The one that surprises people is the window, because a short poll squeezes all of the work into a few days and leaves no room to correct course.
Example scenario (illustrative - not a client result): say a small brewery asks its own subreddit which new label to can next and wants more of its local drinkers to weigh in. Promotion here means a post in a regional partner group and a mention from a beer blogger, both pointing at the thread, both labeled as sponsored, both inside the week the poll runs.
A quote describes work: which channels run, for how long and aimed at whom. A promise about the split would be a promise about strangers' choices, and nobody can make that one honestly.
- The audience: a narrow hobby subreddit needs tighter targeting than a broad one.
- The channels: an ad, a partner group post and a blogger's mention each take different work.
- The window: a poll set to close within a day leaves less room than one open the full week.
- The labels: every sponsored mention carries one, and writing them is part of the job.
When a subreddit's rules turn the answer into no
A subreddit that bans self-promotion, outside links or polls about a member's own project is a no for Voting Now, whatever the budget. Moderators enforce those rules, and a poll that breaks them can disappear with every pick on it, so spending on that poll would buy nothing at all.
Some polls are a no for other reasons. We never promote a poll tied to a giveaway or any other chance draw, and we stay away from anything that touches political or governmental questions. If someone wants the poll only so a screenshot of the leading bar can serve as proof of public support, I'd decline that too: the bar would be telling a story the readers didn't.
And sometimes the honest answer is no because the poll doesn't need outside help. A subreddit with an engaged membership and a well-written question can fill a poll on its own, and the cheapest poll promotion is the one you never had to buy. | Kind of vote | What it does | What promotion can do | Rule to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pick in a Reddit poll | Chooses one of up to six options the author wrote when posting the poll. | Bring readers who care about the question to the thread; each one decides alone. | The subreddit's sidebar rule on polls and self-promotion, plus Reddit's content policy. |
| Upvote on the post | Feeds the content voting system that sets how high the thread sits in feeds. | Nothing direct; a real reader may upvote, and that choice stays theirs. | Reddit's content policy, the text that governs the content voting system. |
| Downvote on the post | Pushes the thread lower in the same ranking that upvotes feed. | Nothing; we never ask anyone to downvote a rival's thread or option. | Reddit's content policy and the subreddit's own conduct rules. |
| Upvote on a comment | Ranks one reply inside the thread and leaves the poll's split unchanged. | Nothing worth paying for, since a comment's position does not move the poll. | The subreddit's rules on comments, links and promotion. |
| Clicks from bots or fake accounts | The FTC rule counts indicators generated by bots or ownerless accounts as fake. | Nothing; Voting Now never runs bots and never buys or rents accounts for a poll. | 16 CFR 465.8 on selling and buying fake indicators of social media influence. |
| When only a win will do | A poll that has to come out one way, whatever readers actually think. | Nothing honest; promotion brings readers, and readers choose freely. | Your own goal: if only one outcome is acceptable, skip paid promotion of the poll. |
Step by step
-
Share the subreddit and thread
Send the link to the Reddit thread, or name the subreddit where the poll will go up, with the options as written and the length the author chose. A poll that is not posted yet works too.
-
Quote the sidebar rule
Copy the subreddit's rule on self-promotion and polls, and read Reddit's content policy next to it. If either text forbids outside promotion of the thread, the analysis ends with a no.
-
Settle audience, channels and cost
Agree on who should see the thread, which channels carry it (ads, partner groups, bloggers, our own social accounts) and the quote for the poll. Every sponsored mention carries a visible label.
-
Run inside the poll window
Promotion starts once the poll is live and stops when it locks, at most a week later going by the 2020 launch description. Before the question is posted there is nowhere to send people.
-
Read the split at close
When the poll closes, look at the final split and the comments together. The result belongs to the people who answered; our closing note covers what ran and where, and nothing about who picked what.
Questions and answers
Can you buy votes for a Reddit poll?
No. Voting Now does not sell picks in a Reddit poll; it sells promotion that brings real Redditors to the thread, where each person answers on their own account. The agency runs ads, native PR, partner-group posts, blogger mentions and its own social channels, with no bots and no fake accounts. Nobody can promise which option finishes ahead, and if the subreddit forbids outside promotion, the answer for that poll is no before any money moves.
How long does a Reddit poll last?
A Reddit poll lasts up to a week, according to Digital Information World's 2020 report on the feature's launch, and the author chooses the length while creating the post. For promotion that window is the whole schedule: ads and partner posts have to land between the moment the poll goes live and the moment it closes. Reddit can change the limit, so the poll composer is the place to confirm it before posting.
Are Reddit upvotes the same as poll votes?
No. A Reddit upvote raises the whole post in a subreddit's feed, while a poll vote picks one of the options listed inside that post. The two counts sit side by side and move independently, so a thread can collect upvotes while the poll's split stays put. If the answer to the question is what matters, watch the poll's numbers and let the arrow be.
Is vote manipulation against Reddit rules?
Reddit's content policy is the text that settles it, and Voting Now treats faked upvotes and faked poll picks as off-limits whatever the wording. A New America report on Reddit lists the content voting system among the platform's most common routes for manipulation. Separately, the FTC rule at 16 CFR 465.8 covers selling fake indicators of social media influence, and buying them when the buyer knew or should have known; likes and shares are named, poll picks are not.
How do I get more votes on a Reddit poll?
More votes on a Reddit poll come from more of the right people seeing the thread while it is open, and from a question they can answer in a second. Post it in the subreddit where the topic already lives, keep the options short, and send your own followers the thread link once. Paid promotion of the poll adds readers from outside your circle, labeled as sponsored, and it cannot choose for them.
Can every subreddit host a Reddit poll?
No. When polls launched in 2020, Digital Information World reported that the post type worked in every subreddit except text-only communities. Moderators can also restrict polls through their own rules, so a subreddit that technically allows the format may still remove a poll that breaks its sidebar. Check both the post options and the rules before writing the question, because a removed poll takes its count with it.

Voting Now does not create, buy or rent Reddit accounts, never runs bots and never clicks an upvote, a downvote or a poll option on anyone's behalf. We cannot promise a win, a particular result or a final split, and we cannot promise that moderators keep the thread up or that Reddit keeps every pick it records. We never take on a poll tied to a giveaway or any chance draw, a poll in a subreddit that forbids outside promotion, or political or governmental votes of any kind.
A contest vote sits under two rulebooks, the platform's and the organizer's. Meta's Spam standard lists offering anything of monetary value in exchange for engagement as a covered behavior, and the Santa Barbara Independent says it will disqualify a business that offers voters incentives of any kind. Voting Now reads both rulebooks before it plans anything, and a clause that forbids outside promotion ends the job.
Contest platforms check votes as routine. Easypromos runs each vote through 11 security controls and does not count one that fails any of them, and Woobox says voting fraud is becoming more common as contests grow popular. Voting Now promotes to real people who choose for themselves, at the contest's own pace, and none of this is a method for getting past a check.
Under 16 CFR 465.8, buying fake indicators of social media influence for a commercial purpose can violate the FTC's rule, which is one reason Voting Now promotes to real people and does not bring in bought counts. The FTC's Endorsement Guides also require a paid creator to disclose the connection clearly. Whether outside promotion is lawful for a given contest is a question for a lawyer, and Voting Now takes no political or governmental votes.
No quote promises a win, a ranking or a vote count, because the organizer counts the votes and applies its own rules. The Santa Barbara Independent, for one, says it will disqualify a business that offers voters incentives of any kind. Nothing runs before the client approves a written quote.
